A lay biblical counselor is a volunteer counselor who has undergone training through The Church at RB. They do not utilize any professional mental health training rather, the use of spiritual disciplines such as Scripture-reading, prayer, and biblical mediation.

A mental health professional holds a higher level degree in their particular field and is licensed and/or certified. With a mental health professional, you can use insurance or private pay to have either short or long term care. Here at The Church at RB, all counselors are volunteers that have undergone extensive training through the church to serve you but rely heavily on the Holy Spirit. With that said, guidance and advice given to you will be through a biblical lens and provided to you as short-term care.

The Church at RB uses a short-term, solution-focused biblical model while counseling.

You can receive up to 8 sessions, free of charge once accepted as a counselee.

We have an amazing Trusted Partners list which consists of vetted, licensed counselors, therapists, and psychologists that can better suit your needs.

Expect to meet with your counselor 3-4 times per month. During your journey, it is important to recognize the important role you play by being committed to your weekly homework assignments, being on time for your sessions, and allowing God to meet you where you are.
